1. Seedless lime:

Characteristic of seedless lime trees is that they are non-spruce, suitable and well grown for Vietnamese climate. The unseeded lemon flower grows into a beam, the flowers are white, a bit long, with a sour and fragrant taste.

Seedless lime is known as the Persian Lime. Characteristic of seedless lime trees is that they are non-spruce, suitable and well grown for Vietnamese climate. The seedless lime flower grows into a beam, the flowers are white, a bit long, with a sour and fragrant taste.

Seedless lemon varieties have fewer thorns on the stem and fruit similar to traditional lemons. When the branches are in the mature stage, the thorns degenerate and the tree produces the wrong fruits, a bunch of 8-10 fruits. From the 2nd – 3rd year, the yield will be higher. Seedless lemons will be harvested for over 9 years before degenerating The tree can grow up to 5m high, has a thornless trunk, round foliage, fruit clusters, no seeds (or only a few seeds). Seedless lemons bear fruit all year round. The tree also has very strong disease resistance, especially not being infected with green leaf yellowing disease like other citrus trees.

Seedless lemons are easy to grow, have few pests and diseases, and bear fruit all year round. The time from planting to harvest is 18 months. On average, one tree will yield about 30 kg, with an average yield of about 35 – 40 tons of fruit/ha/year. Seedless lemons are one of the agricultural products with high export value and stable output. Below are instructions for growing seedless lemons for export.

2. The benefits of seedless lime:

2.1 Source of antioxidants Antioxidants are important compounds in protecting cells against free radicals. When present in large quantities, free radicals can damage cells in the body, causing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and many types of cancer. Lemons have many active compounds that function as antioxidants in the body, including flavonoids, limonoids, kaempferol, quercetin and ascorbic acid.

2.2 Strengthen the immune system Lemons are high in vitamin C, a nutrient that can help strengthen your immune system. In test-tube studies, vitamin C has been shown to increase the production of white blood cells, which helps protect the body against infection and disease. Furthermore, in several human studies, taking vitamin C shortened the duration and severity of the common cold. In addition, vitamin C can help wounds heal faster by reducing inflammation and stimulating the production of collagen – an essential protein that supports wound repair. Besides vitamin C, lemons are also a source of antioxidants that help strengthen the immune system by protecting cells against free radical damage.

2.3 Improve skin health Lemon has several properties that can promote healthy skin. This fruit is high in vitamin C, a vitamin needed to regenerate collagen in the body. Collagen is a protein that keeps skin firm and healthy. A medium-sized lemon weighing about 67 grams provides more than 20% of the RDI for this nutrient. A study of 4,000 women found that those who ate more vitamin C had fewer wrinkles and avoided dry skin during aging.

2.4 Reduce the incidence of heart disease Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Research shows that lemons may reduce several heart disease risk factors. Lemons are high in vitamin C, which can help lower blood pressure, a major risk factor for heart disease In addition, vitamin C can fight atherosclerosis – the appearance of plaque buildup in the arteries, causing blockages in the arteries that cause heart disease. An animal study found that feeding rabbits lemon peel and drinking lemon juice helped slow the progression of atherosclerosis in them.

2.5 Preventing kidney stones Kidney stones are small mineral crystals that often cause pain in the body. They can form inside the kidneys when the urine quality is too concentrated or when the body has high levels of stone-forming minerals, such as calcium. Citrus fruits like lemons are high in citric acid, which can prevent kidney stones by increasing citrate levels and removing stone-forming minerals in the urine. One study found that people who ate a lot of citrus fruits had a significantly lower risk of kidney stones.

2.6 Enhance iron absorption Iron is an essential nutrient for creating red blood cells and transporting oxygen throughout your body. Low blood iron levels can cause anemia. Signs of iron deficiency anemia include fatigue, shortness of breath when exercising, paleness, dry skin and hair loss. Vegetarians or vegans are at higher risk of iron deficiency, because plant products contain a form of iron that is less well absorbed than iron sources from animal products. Foods rich in vitamin C, such as lemons, can help prevent iron deficiency anemia by improving the absorption of iron from plant-based foods. One study in people following a vegetarian diet found that drinking a 250ml glass of lemon juice with meals increased plant iron absorption.

2.7 Reduce the rate of cancer Cancer is a dangerous disease, caused by the abnormal development of some cells. Citrus fruits like lemons and limes contain compounds that are thought to reduce the risk of cancer. For example, flavonoids – which act as antioxidants – can help prevent the occurrence of cancer-causing genetic mutations. Furthermore, test-tube studies show that citrus fruits can prevent the growth or spread of tumors of the colon, throat, pancreas, breast, bone marrow, and other cells. other cancers.

3. How to use lemon:

There are countless ways to use lemons in everyday life. Lemons are highly appreciated for the amount of natural juice in the fruit as well as the scent of essential oils in this fruit. That’s one reason why lemons are considered a staple ingredient in Southeast Asian and Mexican cuisine.

In other parts of the world – like India – lemons are often soaked to increase shelf life and then added to dishes to enhance flavor. Lemon zest and lemon juice are common ingredients in desserts and baked goods, such as pies, cookies, and ice cream. Citrus fruits are often used in savory dishes or to add flavor to alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Outside of its use in the kitchen as a cooking ingredient, limes are used as a natural cleaning agent and to neutralize odors. Some studies show that they have high antibacterial properties. Lemon juice can be mixed with vinegar and water to use as an all-natural, chemical-free cleaning solution.

Limes are a popular product, sold in all stores and are super popular – often found in the same areas as other fruits.

4. Some downsides In most cases, lemon is a safe fruit to consume. There are few or no notable side effects:

However, for those allergic to other citrus fruits, limes should be avoided as they can cause food allergy symptoms, such as swelling, hives, and difficulty breathing. If this occurs, users should seek medical help.

Additionally, some people may experience acid reflux from eating limes or drinking lemon juice due to the fruit’s high acidity. Other digestive upset symptoms may include heartburn, nausea, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Therefore, consuming too much lemon can increase the risk of tooth decay, because the acid in lemons and other citrus fruits can erode tooth enamel. Rinsing your mouth with plain water after eating lemon or drinking lemon juice is an effective measure to prevent these effects.

In other cases, applying lemon directly to the skin can make the skin surface more sensitive to the sun’s UV rays and cause inflammation.

5. Techniques for growing seedless lime:

The lemon tree originated in the tropics, in the same family as citrus. In recent years, seedless lime have been especially popular because of their simple growing method, easy fruit-bearing and ability to adapt to many ecological regions. Seedless limes are an imported variety.

Characteristic:
Seedless lemon trees can be up to 6 meters tall, have small thorns on the trunk but not many, round canopy, fruit clusters, seedless, bear fruit all year round and have good disease resistance, often called four-season lemon or four-season lemon because it has the advantage of growing year round. Mature trees yield about 150 – 200kg/tree/year and have high export potential.

Cultivation techniques:

Season: Plants can be grown all year round but will bring optimal efficiency in the winter-spring crop from February – March and the autumn-winter crop from August – October. Distance: 3.5 – 4 meters/tree. Seedless lime are usually planted high in the field and then holes are dug to plant, each hole is about 60 – 80 cm wide. After about 10 – 20 days, apply diluted Urea fertilizer under the roots.

After 30 days, use NPK fertilizer 20 cm away from the base and irrigate regularly. When you see buds about 1 – 2 cm, start spraying for pests. Depending on the bud cycle, use appropriate fertilizer. Adjust the tree’s canopy so that when the wind is strong, the branches do not break. Prevent mealybugs under the roots with special medicine. Shape the tree straight with a stake, do not let the tree shake and cause the roots to break.

Manuring:

Before planting, fertilize with manure or decomposed organic fertilizer at about 20kg/planting hole. After planting, remember to water the plant enough to keep it moist for about 2-3 days/time in the first weeks after planting. Then water once every 1 week – 10 days.

Dressing:

In the second year, fertilize with about 100g – 500g of urea fertilizer/tree/year. Divide into 3 – 4 turns and apply to the base to cover the soil or mix with water for irrigation.

The amount of fertilizer each year depends largely on the amount of fruit harvested in the previous year, so we aim to add fertilizer. If the lemon tree shows signs of yellow leaves or burnt outer edges, it means the tree is lacking trace elements.

To overcome this problem, it is necessary to add decomposed manure. In addition, specialized foliar fertilizers can be sprayed for citrus fruit trees to support the tree’s nutrition. The most appropriate time to spray is when the tree has young leaves or flowers because it will ensure the tree has many fruits, is succulent and increases its resistance to other pests.

Pest control:

The pests that attack lemon trees are usually stink bugs, leafhoppers, aphids… so use your bare hands to catch and kill them if you see a few. If there is too much, spray Bi 58 5.05% or Basa 0.2%.

In case of leafminer, use Padan 95WP 0.05% or a mixture of 20ml Decis 25EC + 1 Liter BI58 diluted with water to spray.

White spiders are the cause of fruit browning. You can spray Sulfur powder at 20-25kg/ha or Zineb at 0.3-0.5%. If it is powdery mildew, use Topsin M concentration 0.075 – 0.1% or powdered sulfur (20 – 30kg) mixed with lime powder (7 – 10kg) to spray 1 hectare.

Often when fertilizing too much nitrogen, pests will appear. Pay special attention to scab disease that damages leaves and fruits, this disease causes the tree to lose its inherent qualities. In addition, spider bites cause fruit browning. Besides, if there is not good drainage during the rainy season, lemon trees will be susceptible to root rot, causing leaves to turn yellow and die.

Notes when harvesting:

Cut off all small fruits still on the tree. Prune excess shoots, cut small branches, old branches, and toothpicks in the canopy to help the tree breathe.

At the same time, use a toothed rake to gently loosen the soil and cut off the roots to help the plant be ready to differentiate flower buds and bloom early next year (February-March).

At the beginning of December, stop watering, causing drought for about 1 month, then fertilize again and water continuously for 2-3 days, the plants will bloom simultaneously. If it rains, cover the base with plastic to prevent rainwater from penetrating into the soil.

When the fruit is the size of a finger, add NPK 16-16-8 fertilizer (0.7kg/tree) to take care of large fruit. The plants then increase the amount of fertilizer depending on the harvest yield. For southern provinces, the above processing stages are done 1 month earlier than in the north. When the tree matures, the thorns will degenerate, making it easier to care for and harvest.

Lemons can be used fresh or as raw materials for export processing. Users love seedless lime so this fruit is very valuable. Many international markets such as Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, the Middle East… have been in demand for this product.

Off-season flowering technique:

To get lime out of season, you need to follow these solutions: When the main lemon crop is in full bloom, hoe 20cm – 30cm deep around the tree canopy. At the same time, stop watering and fertilizing, hand pick some fruit or spray Ethrel to reduce 50% of the main crop’s fruit, then cover it with soil. After 7 – 10 days, the tree will shed 40 – 50% of its young leaves and leaves. Hoe a 10cm deep groove around the canopy.

Fertilize each root with 1kg – 2kg of potassium chloride fertilizer depending on the age of the tree. Dry the soil for 1 month, then water and care for the tree normally. About 30 days later, the lemon tree will sprout again, bloom and bear fruit in June – July.

Harvest time is December – February of the following year. . Seedless lime have highly adaptable properties. If we want to have more income, we can intercrop with oranges, tangerines, pepper, coffee…
