A giant jackfruit in Lang Son has broken the previous record held by a 54.5kg jackfruit from Hai Duong, which was considered to have set a world record.
The jackfruit from Hai Duong, grown by Mr. Pham Van Thieu in Nhi Chau Ward, Hai Duong City, was reported to have exceeded the Guinness World Record for the heaviest jackfruit, which was set at 42.27kg in India in 2016.
Recently, there has been a lot of buzz about a jackfruit weighing up to 56kg, grown in Chi Lang Town, Chi Lang District, Lang Son Province. Accompanying this news are images of the enormous fruit, decorated with a ribbon and displayed at a booth, with a recorded weight of 56kg.
This remarkable jackfruits was proudly showcased at the Chi Lang Town booth during the 2023 Na and OCOP Products Promotion and Consumption Program held in Lang Son. Previously, millions were captivated by a video of Mr. Thieu’s family harvesting the giant jackfruit, which weighed 54.5kg when weighed. Mr. Thieu confirmed that this weight was accurate and not altered. After a week of ripening, on July 7, Mr. Thieu cut the jackfruit to share with family and neighbors. The large, sweet, and flavorful jackfruit segments received praise for their richness, golden color, and fragrant aroma.
Mr. Thieu noted that the jackfruits tree is only 8 years old, so there is a high possibility that future fruits may be even larger. He is committed to continuing care for the tree to ensure it grows even better.
